The artwork refers to the need for empowerment of communication, interculturality and mutual respect, as declared in UNESCO’s Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and visualizes the harmonious coexistence of the diverse aspects of humanity. “Harmonious Coexistence” portrays two similar faces amalgamated. The artwork has been sculpted many times larger than life-size and, in a way, that one may not tell with absolute certainty either the sex or the ethnic origin of the faces.
